Electronic visa facility in final stage of development: Tourism ministry

The electronic visa facility or e-visa initiative is in its ending of development and is anticipated to be introduced this year, a business ministry official aforesaid Wed.
Speaking at the "Think Tourism-Think India: Thought Leadership Meet", unionised by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and business of Asian country (Assocham), business secretary Parvez Dewan aforesaid the move would catapult Asian country among the highest four countries with visa-friendly policies.

"The external affairs ministry, the National Security adviser and every one the connected agencies have nemine contradicente supported the introduction of electronic travel authorisation (ETAs)," aforesaid Dewan.

"Though the choice has been taken, the orders haven't been issued because the implementation will take time. whereas the computer code for the system is in situ, there's a requirement to coach the personnel," he added.
 "India can have one in all the friendliest visa regimes once the electronic visa facility is introduced."

Stressing on the necessity for "visa liberalisation", Dewan aforesaid Asian country is stratified within the thirty ninth spot in terms of foreign tourer arrival and offers visa on arrival to tourists from eleven countries.

"India has the best per capita pay of a tourer in any country within the world," he said.

Describing domestic business because the country's "mainstay", Dewan aforesaid of the concerning one.2 billion population, Asian country has over a billion domestic tourists as per the 2012 figures.

According to Assocham president genus Rana Kapoor, the travel and business sector has emerged in concert of the "key sunrise sectors" for Asian country.


"India has signed forty eight agreements with different countries and international organisations to widen links of relationship and mutual promotion of business. attributable to this, total tourer visits in Asian country has big at a gradual rate of sixteen % within the past 5 years with a forecasted increase rate of twelve per cent within the next decade," he said.
